LinkedIn Introduces Reporting Option for AI-Generated Content

LinkedIn is taking steps to combat the influx of low-quality, AI-generated content that users have increasingly encountered on the professional networking site. A new feature has been introduced, enabling users to easily flag and report such posts for review.

Users can now access a "Seems like AI slop" option through a three-dot menu next to posts they suspect are AI-generated. Upon reporting, the post is hidden, and the user receives a notification thanking them for their feedback to improve the feed. Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn's chief product officer, stated that this move is part of an effort to maintain authenticity on a platform designed for "real people" to share their "real perspectives, ideas, and expertise."

Srinivasan explained that the reporting tool will help the platform tune its models and improve user feeds. The company is also increasing its internal automated detection efforts and has removed its AI-powered "enhance your post" feature. The change has been largely well-received by users, many of whom have expressed satisfaction with the initiative to reduce "obvious" AI-generated material.

This development aligns with similar actions taken by other digital platforms addressing the challenges of AI-generated content. YouTube, for instance, has clarified its policies on monetizing AI-produced content, restricting repetitive or nonsensical material. Pinterest and TikTok have previously introduced user controls for managing AI-generated content visibility in their feeds.
