LinkedIn Ranks Top 25 'Cities on the Rise' for Job Opportunities in 2026

LinkedIn has published its second annual 'Cities on the Rise' list, ranking the top 25 U.S. metro areas that it identifies as the fastest-growing destinations for jobs and new talent, projecting into 2026. The social networking platform analyzed its labor market data to determine where professionals are finding employment, employers are hiring, and new talent is initiating careers.

Augusta, Georgia, has been named the number one city on the list for 2026. Other cities recognized for their growth include Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Louisville, Kentucky; Richmond, Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The list aims to provide insights for individuals exploring new career opportunities who may have the flexibility to relocate.

Augusta's leading position is attributed to its robust employment sectors, including higher education, hospitals and healthcare, and electric power generation. Key employers in the area consist of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the U.S. Army, and Augusta University. The city is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Eisenhower and the Georgia Cyber Center, noted as the nation's largest state-owned cybersecurity facility.

Beyond defense and cybersecurity, emerging industries in Augusta include medtech and data centers. The median household income in Augusta is reported at $55,485, with an average home listing price of $396,195. Notably, 26.5% of advertised jobs in the metro area were remote between February 2024 and February 2026.

More than half of the cities featured on this year's list were also present in the previous year's ranking, though with significant shifts in positions. Grand Rapids, which held the top spot in the inaugural 2025 list, dropped to 25th place this year. Approximately 40% of the U.S. metros highlighted in the current ranking are new additions.
