BEYOND Expo has announced that Matt White, Global CTO for AI at The Linux Foundation, will participate in the event's opening ceremony on May 21, 2026. White is recognized for his work in open-source AI and will address the next phase of global open AI development.
White functions as an ecosystem builder in the AI field, promoting open-source tools and infrastructure while assisting companies and developers in adopting open AI in production environments. He has also been involved in shaping the technical strategy and infrastructure for the PyTorch Foundation and Agentic AI Foundation.
White played a key role in establishing the "Model Openness Framework," a structured approach to evaluating the openness of AI models. This framework moves the discussion beyond a general label to a concrete technical and governance issue. Additionally, he architected the OpenMDW license, specifically designed for the release of AI models, addressing novel needs in AI sharing and distribution.
BEYOND Expo, which recently concluded its fifth edition in Macau attracting over 100,000 attendees and 1,600 companies, focuses on integrating cutting-edge technology into industry and society. White's participation highlights the expo's commitment to discussing the foundational technical and ethical aspects of AI on a global scale.
