Lionsgate announces upcoming action film Karōshi

Lionsgate has released a trailer for its upcoming action thriller, Karōshi, which is scheduled for release in early 2027. Produced by Chad Stahelski, the project marks a move into a near-future setting for the production team behind the John Wick series.

The film, written and directed by Takashi Doscher, is set in a dystopian version of corporate Manhattan. It follows an outsider who infiltrates the technology firm Ikigai Technologies following the death of a staff member, eventually uncovering systemic violence within the company. The title references the Japanese term for death caused by overwork.

The ensemble cast features Teo Yoo in the lead role, supported by Takehiro Hira, Giancarlo Esposito, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Richard Harmon, Isabel May, and Show Kasamatsu. The film aims to critique corporate culture through the lens of a high-stakes thriller.
