Liquefied Biogas Helps Gunnar Knutsen Win Public Tenders
Gunnar Knutsen AS has increased its use of liquefied biogas (LBG) in its fleet. The company reports this is helping it win public transport contracts in the Greater Oslo region.
Oslo-based transport company Gunnar Knutsen AS has expanded its fleet of trucks running on liquefied biogas (LBG), a move that has aided its success in public tender competitions within the Greater Oslo area. Fifty of the company's 81 trucks are now powered by biogas.
According to the company, biogas-powered vehicles enable more efficient transport solutions while supporting climate objective achievement. Frank Verner Vestveit, representing Gunnar Knutsen, stated that LBG offers a significant advantage over other fuels, particularly for daily routes of 400 to 500 kilometers without refueling stops.
The use of biogas also aids in winning public tenders, as many procurers aim to meet their sustainability goals. Additionally, LBG provides a competitive edge in metropolitan areas, such as through toll exemptions.
Gunnar Knutsen AS is part of NRC Group, which has been monitoring developments in the fuel markets. The company views LBG as currently the only fossil-free fuel that meets the group's stringent requirements for efficiency and environmental performance.
