Little Giant recalls 3.6 million ladders over fall risks
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has initiated a recall of 3.6 million Little Giant Ladder Systems units following reports of the equipment unexpectedly retracting and causing injuries.

The recall affects numerous models sold between December 2015 and October 2024 through major retailers such as Lowe's, Costco, and various online platforms. The defect involves the Rapid Lock mechanism, which may fail to engage correctly, leading to sudden retraction while a user is on the ladder.
According to the CPSC, the company has received 39 reports of lock malfunctions and 19 reports of injuries. Reported medical issues range from lacerations and fractures to severe traumatic brain injuries and concussions.
Consumers are instructed to stop using the affected ladders immediately. Little Giant is offering a repair kit that includes warning labels and updated maintenance instructions. In cases where the repair does not resolve the function issue, the company is providing replacements or refunds.
