Liver Education Advocates launches patient advocacy award honoring founder Tony Villiotti
The organization will grant up to $10,000 annually to a patient or caregiver to support advocacy initiatives for those affected by liver disease.
Liver Education Advocates has established a new award program in honor of its late co-founder, Tony Villiotti. The "Tony Villiotti Rookie of the Year" initiative will provide up to $10,000 in funding to a patient or caregiver who demonstrates significant commitment to assisting others navigating a liver disease diagnosis.
The program aims to foster grassroots advocacy and provide the necessary financial resources for individuals to spearhead support efforts. Applications for the inaugural grant cycle are scheduled to open in the spring of 2027.
Patient-led advocacy has become a vital component of the broader liver health landscape, helping to bridge gaps in information and social support. By incentivizing individual participation, the organization seeks to build upon the foundation laid by Villiotti to improve the patient experience.
