LM Studio launches Bionic tool for open-source AI models
LM Studio has released Bionic, an AI agent tool designed to process open-source models for tasks including programming, research, and complex document work.

LM Studio announced on July 17 the launch of its new tool, LM Studio Bionic. The application is positioned as an AI agent tool for open-source models, intended to handle tasks such as programming, research, and complex document processing.
The tool supports AI models that can be run locally through LM Studio. For more demanding tasks including coding, inference, and long-context operations, users can access more powerful open-source models via LM Studio's Secure Cloud service.
The cloud service offers access to models such as Zhipu GLM 5.2, Moonshot AI's Kimi K2.6, Alibaba's Qwen 3.6 27B, and Google's Gemma 4 12B. LM Studio states that its cloud operations adhere to a "zero data retention" policy, ensuring that user request data is not stored after task completion.
LM Studio Bionic also features an integrated cross-application voice keyboard, allowing users to dictate text directly at the cursor's location. All transcription processing is handled locally on the device to enhance user privacy.
