LMU Munich hosts annual White Rose memorial lecture
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich honors the legacy of the anti-fascist White Rose resistance group with its annual memorial lecture.
The annual White Rose Memorial Lecture at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich is scheduled for February 22. The event commemorates the members of the White Rose resistance group, who were executed in 1943 for their opposition to the Nazi regime.
Dr. Katja Wildermuth, Director of Bayerischer Rundfunk, serves as this year’s speaker, addressing the intersection of social cohesion and media responsibility. The lecture is recorded at the White Rose memorial site located within the university.
The address will be broadcast on ARD alpha, with digital access provided through the ARD Mediathek and the LMU newsroom. The lecture continues the university's tradition of reflecting on the historical resistance against fascism and the responsibilities inherent in democratic societies.
