LMU Munich Partners with Go2RAIL to Promote Sustainable Erasmus Mobility

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) has launched a partnership with the Go2RAIL platform to enhance environmental sustainability in its Erasmus student exchange program. Go2RAIL is a non-profit initiative designed to assist students in planning their Erasmus trips via train.

The collaboration was facilitated by the Erasmus team at LMU's International Office, which advocates for eco-friendly and student-centric travel solutions. The platform enables students to form "travel convoys," groups of students who journey together by train. This approach aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions while fostering a shared travel experience.

Students utilizing Go2RAIL will also receive exclusive discount codes for their train tickets, thereby making train travel a more affordable option. LMU's participation marks it as the first German university to join the European "Go2UNIS" network.

The service becomes available to all students undertaking study abroad programs this autumn, starting from July. Go2RAIL seeks to make train travel more accessible and appealing for students engaged in international exchange programs.
