Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München's (LMU) Munich International Stone Center for Inequality Research (ISI) has garnered several accolades for its innovative approach to communicating research on social inequality.

Having recently moved into renovated premises, ISI aims to enhance the accessibility of its research findings to a broader audience. The center not only investigates various forms of inequality, such as wealth disparities, but also provides event spaces for workshops, discussions, and exhibitions that deviate from conventional academic formats.

"Wealth inequality affects democracy, social mobility, and economic stability. When wealth is concentrated, power is also concentrated," stated Professor Fabian Pfeffer, Director of ISI. "While many forms of inequality are more apparent in the United States, they are a significant issue in Germany as well."

The center has gained recognition for its clear and visually driven communication strategy. Its "Inaugural Report" has won multiple awards, including the FOX Award, the International Creative Media Award, and the European Publishing Award. The report features visual presentations, interviews, and a satirical version of Monopoly, dubbed "Munipoly," to illustrate the societal impacts of inequality.

ISI also explores potential solutions, such as free public transportation and increased investment in public housing, aiming to understand and, where possible, mitigate the detrimental effects of inequality.
