LMU Munich seeks two PhD candidates for psychology department

The Scene Grammar Lab within the Department of Psychology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) is advertising for two four-year PhD positions. The positions, paid according to E13 TV-L (75%), are slated to begin in early 2026.

The lab, which relocated from Frankfurt to LMU Munich, studies scene perception, object memory, and visual attention in real-world settings. Their research methods encompass psychophysics, eye-tracking (including VR), EEG, and computational modeling.

One PhD position is associated with the "The Adaptive Mind" Cluster of Excellence, a project integrating behavioral research, neurophysiology, psychiatry, and machine learning. This role will focus on studying real-world search behavior using eye-tracking and mobile EEG recordings in VR.

The second position is an internal university appointment, offering a longer-term perspective (4+2 years) independent of external funding, allowing for greater research freedom. This role also includes some teaching responsibilities.

Applicants should hold a Master's degree in a relevant field such as psychology or neuroscience, with experience in eye-tracking or EEG experiments, and possess programming and statistical skills.
