LNG Manufacturing Plant Setup Costs in India Detailed

Establishing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) manufacturing plant in India necessitates substantial capital investment, with total project costs typically ranging from INR 200 crore to INR 2,000 crore, according to an analysis by IMARC Group.

The push towards a gas-based economy and cleaner fuels for transport and industry is driving increased demand for LNG in India. LNG, natural gas cooled to approximately -162 degrees Celsius, allows for efficient storage and transport, shrinking its volume significantly.

The financial viability of such a plant is heavily influenced by the cost of feed natural gas and the energy required for the liquefaction process. IMARC Group's findings suggest that well-managed plants can achieve net profit margins between 12% and 20%, with an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 12% to 18%. The payback period for these investments is typically between 6 to 9 years.

The report by IMARC Group provides a comprehensive overview for potential investors and entrepreneurs, detailing the manufacturing process, machinery requirements, raw material sourcing, location planning, financial projections, and necessary licenses and approvals for setting up an LNG plant in India.
