Local bus driver gains social media following in Germany
Daniel Gessler, a bus driver in the Altmark region, has attracted over 10,000 followers by sharing daily glimpses of his route and local surroundings.

Daniel Gessler, a transit bus driver based in Stendal, has become a prominent social media figure known for documenting his professional life and the local Altmark region. Operating across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, Gessler produces short-form content captured during his breaks while driving his daily route.
Gessler began his foray into content creation in 2020, initially showcasing pencil drawings before pivoting to videos of his vintage Trabant car. After a brief hiatus, he returned to digital platforms to share his experiences behind the wheel of a public transport bus, adopting the persona of the "old bus driver from Altmark."
Unlike traditional marketing campaigns, Gessler’s approach centers on simple, spontaneous observations of his environment. He states that his primary motivation is to offer a reprieve from the often negative tone prevalent on digital platforms. "We have enough negative content. I would rather show that everyday life can be beautiful," Gessler said.
The content has resonated with his passengers and a broader digital audience who view his updates as a refreshing daily interaction. While maintaining his primary career, Gessler has turned his daily commute into a platform that highlights local life without political messaging.
