London Startup Isembard Opens UK Capital's Largest Factory Since WWII

London-based startup Isembard has opened a new facility in Southwark, which the company states is the largest factory in the UK capital since World War II.

The factory specializes in automated manufacturing, producing components for sectors including rockets, satellites, drones, and humanoid robots. The company was founded by a former venture capitalist, ex-Amazon employees, and military veterans.

Isembard aims to transform the manufacturing industry by bringing advanced manufacturing closer to research and development hubs. The startup utilizes artificial intelligence and robotics in its production processes to accelerate and enhance the creation of complex parts.

The company secured $12 million in funding from the European Innovation Council Fund. This investment is intended to support the expansion of its operations and the development of new manufacturing techniques. Isembard believes that automation and localized production can significantly reduce production costs and lead times compared to traditional methods.
