Lucid Diagnostics Advances Payment Pathways for EsoGuard and EsoCheck

Lucid Diagnostics announced progress on payment, billing, and coding pathways for its EsoGuard and EsoCheck diagnostic products. The company stated that the Medicare Advisory Panel recommended maintaining the original gapfill payment basis for EsoGuard under the Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule.

Additionally, the AMA CPT Editorial Panel approved a new Category III CPT code for non-endoscopic cell collection procedures performed with EsoCheck. This new code is expected to facilitate reimbursement and patient access to these procedures.

The company has also submitted a proposal for a new Category I CPT code covering the delivery of the EsoGuard esophageal test. This code is intended to support broader adoption and accessibility of EsoGuard among healthcare providers.

These developments are significant as they aim to improve patient access to early detection and management of esophageal conditions, such as Barrett's esophagus, potentially reducing the risk of esophageal cancer through enhanced screening.
