Lucid Diagnostics Study Analyzes Real-World Performance of Esophageal Precancer Test
A study of nearly 12,000 patients demonstrates the viability of the EsoGuard and EsoCheck system for non-endoscopic esophageal cancer screening.
Lucid Diagnostics has released findings from a peer-reviewed study evaluating its EsoGuard esophageal DNA test and EsoCheck cell collection device. Published in the journal Diagnostics, the study examined 11,991 patients who underwent screenings between January 2023 and June 2024.
The data indicates a 95% success rate for cell collection, with procedures averaging less than two minutes. No device-related adverse events were reported, and patient feedback highlighted high levels of comfort, with 96% of participants stating they would recommend the procedure to others. The findings also noted that the process remained consistent across different operators, including those recently trained.
CEO Lishan Aklog stated that the study supports the feasibility of large-scale clinical implementation. As the test has received nationwide Medicare reimbursement, the company is focusing on expanding the commercial deployment of its diagnostics tools into broader clinical settings.
