Lucy Liu and Eloise Singer Expand The Pirate Queen Franchise
Actor Lucy Liu and creator Eloise Singer are expanding the "The Pirate Queen" series with a graphic novel, a new video game, and an international exhibition tour.
Actor Lucy Liu and producer Eloise Singer are expanding the franchise centered on the historical Chinese pirate leader Zheng Yisao. The collaboration includes the development of a graphic novel, a new game title, and an immersive exhibition titled "The Pirate Queen: No Safe Waters," which is scheduled for an international tour starting in 2027.
The initiative follows the 2024 launch of the original VR experience, which received an Emmy nomination. The new production, "No Safe Waters," debuted at the Cannes Film Festival’s immersive competition in 2026. Unlike the original VR title designed for head-mounted displays, this project utilizes projections and spatial audio to create a shared environment for audiences.
Liu serves as both a producer and the narrator for the project. The series has gained industry recognition, including awards at the Tribeca and Raindance festivals, for its integration of historical research with immersive storytelling.
