Luis Gallego Elected Chairman of oneworld Governing Board
International Airlines Group (IAG) CEO Luis Gallego will assume the role of Chairman of the oneworld Governing Board effective September 1, 2026. He succeeds American Airlines CEO Robert Isom.

Luis Gallego, the chief executive officer of International Airlines Group (IAG), has been elected as the new Chairman of the oneworld Governing Board. His term will commence on September 1, 2026, succeeding Robert Isom, CEO of American Airlines, whose three-year term concludes.
Gallego stated his honor in taking on the role and expressed eagerness to collaborate with the alliance's management and board to build on progress in key areas such as loyalty, innovation, and sustainability.
Robert Isom thanked Gallego for accepting the leadership position during a period of growth and demonstrated strength for the alliance. Isom also highlighted the commitment to a smooth transition.
The oneworld alliance comprises 15 airlines and serves nearly 1,000 destinations worldwide. The alliance aims to deliver a consistent travel experience with special rewards and privileges for its frequent flyers.
