Lukas Bentel departs Mschf to launch independent design practice

After an eight-year tenure, Lukas Bentel has stepped down as chief creative officer of Mschf. Bentel was instrumental in shaping the collective's strategy, which frequently utilized corporate tactics and satire to engage in commentary on modern consumer culture.

Bentel’s work at Mschf included high-profile releases such as the "Big Red Boot" and projects that challenged conventional art boundaries, such as the fragmentation of a Damian Hirst painting. He now intends to transition into an independent design practice, shifting his focus toward manual, hands-on production.

Bentel’s history with the organization began with the collective Hello Velocity, where he explored speculative design. Reflecting on his departure, Bentel indicates he aims to return to a more tactile form of creation, moving away from the operational structures that governed Mschf’s rapid, project-based output.
