LUMENE's Advent Calendar Wins "Carton of the Year" Award

LUMENE's 2024 Beauty Advent Calendar has been named "Carton of the Year" at the European Carton Excellence Award gala held in Istanbul on September 18.

The award-winning calendar was designed collaboratively by LUMENE's team, Napa Agency, and Metsä Board's packaging design team. It was manufactured by VG Kvadra Pak, part of the Van Genechten Packaging Group. The outer packaging is made from MetsäBoard Prime FBB Bright 380 g/m2, and the inner packaging uses MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright 220 g/m2.

"The Carton of the Year award celebrates true excellence in packaging design, sustainability, and user experience. It’s a tangible result of customer-centric collaboration with our valued partners Van Genechten Packaging and LUMENE," stated Maarten Florizoone, VP Sales FBB Europe at Metsä Board.

Metsä Board's paperboard was also featured in several other award-winning entries at the European Carton Excellence Awards. Alpaya Dermaceuticals' Biobalance Mineral Sense Sun Fluid received a Platinum Award in the Beauty & Cosmetics category, its packaging made of MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright 245 g/m². In the same category, Germaine de Capuccini's promotional packaging, made of MetsäBoard Prime FBB Bright 305 g/m² and converted by Alzamora Group, earned a Gold Award. The packaging for Ringana CAPS was recognized with a Platinum Award in the Pharma & Healthcare category, converted by Cardbox Packaging Wolfsberg GmbH using MetsäBoard Natural FBB 325 g/m².

The European Carton Excellence Awards (ECEA), hosted annually by Pro Carton and the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA), serve as a benchmark for excellence and creativity in the packaging industry.
