LumenUs Automates Paperwork Following Deaths
New platform LumenUs aims to reduce the administrative burden on grieving families by automating paperwork related to death. Founder Sara Tashakorinia believes AI can assist with the less human aspects of the process.

Startup LumenUs has developed an AI-powered platform designed to alleviate the administrative burden on grieving families by automating the paperwork associated with death. Founder Sara Tashakorinia was inspired to create the service after her own husband's passing eight years ago, when she encountered the extensive amount of administrative work required.
"The day your loved one passes away, you also get this honorary badge of a project manager for a project you had no idea about," Tashakorinia told TechCrunch. She notes that the process typically involves an average of 570 hours of paperwork.
Tashakorinia states that LumenUs aims to assist with post-death administrative tasks, such as locating the correct tax forms, filing insurance claims, and closing bank accounts. While the company hopes to eventually support individuals throughout the lifelong grieving process, it is initially focusing on the immediate aftermath of a loss.
Upon joining the platform, users undergo an onboarding process where they share information about their specific situation. LumenUs collects details about the user's legal and financial circumstances, as well as their state of mind, to personalize the service and offer tailored assistance.
