LUNGevity Foundation launches awareness campaign for Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Throughout November, the LUNGevity Foundation is mobilizing communities across the United States to address the challenges posed by lung cancer. The campaign focuses on expanding awareness of early detection methods, the role of precision medicine, and the necessity of addressing stigma surrounding the disease.

The initiatives include the ”Every Breath Forward” movement—featuring public installations—and the ”Breathe Deep TOGETHER” walks scheduled in cities such as Boston and New York. These events aim to provide resources for screening and biomarker testing, which LUNGevity identifies as critical components for improving survival rates.

”Research is improving how we detect and treat lung cancer, and earlier detection can save lives,” said Andrea Ferris, President and CEO of LUNGevity Foundation. She noted that while medical progress is significant, the current priority is ensuring that these advancements are accessible to the public.

LUNGevity's efforts are supported by various sponsors from the pharmaceutical sector, including Boehringer Ingelheim, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson. The foundation intends to use the month to push for continued research funding and policy changes regarding cancer care access.
