Luo Yonghao Responds to 'Make Friends' Livestream Selling Defective Stools
IT Home reports that Luo Yonghao has addressed the issue of the 'Make Friends' livestream channel selling defective stools. He confirmed his departure from the company's management in May 2022 but acknowledged a serious quality control incident.

Chinese tech news outlet IT Home reported on September 25 that Luo Yonghao has publicly responded to the controversy surrounding the sale of defective stools by the 'Make Friends' livestream channel.
Luo Yonghao stated his position on the incident where the livestream channel sold substandard stools made with moldy wood boards and other discarded materials. Although he exited the management of 'Make Friends' in May 2022, Luo reiterated his role as chief supervisor for the company and assured that he would oversee the quality of all products sold.
He acknowledged the situation as a "serious quality control accident," attributing the lack of sufficient attention from the operational department to the fact that sales, though reaching millions, did not initially generate a high volume of returns or complaints. Luo thanked the media and netizens for bringing the issue to light, suggesting the severity might have gone unnoticed otherwise.
Furthermore, Luo pointed out that Yu Minhong's Oriental Select platform had also sold approximately 10 million yuan worth of the same product. He drew a parallel, noting that while he supervises 'Make Friends', Yu Minhong is responsible for Oriental Select, implying differential handling of product issues across platforms.
The 'Make Friends' livestream channel has announced the product's immediate delisting and the termination of its partnership with the brand. They have initiated a process to refund all customers who purchased the stools, offering full refunds without requiring product returns.
