Luoyang hosts global mayors dialogue

The 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue kicked off on October 11 in Luoyang, Henan Province, China. Over 100 participants, including mayors and representatives from 25 cities across 10 countries such as China, the United Kingdom, Italy, Argentina, and Algeria, convened to discuss new models for civilized urban development that integrate ancient heritage with modern progress.

During the opening ceremony, Luoyang Mayor Zhang Yujie engaged in exchanges with guests from cities including Algiers (Algeria), Sesto San Giovanni (Italy), and County Durham (UK). Participating cities jointly witnessed the presentation of the Luoyang Consensus on Urban Civilization.

Supporting events, such as promotional exchanges and a meeting on intangible cultural heritage, ran parallel to the dialogue. These discussions deepened partnerships in areas like sister-city relationships, industrial cooperation, and cultural and tourism connectivity, aiming to translate dialogue outcomes into practical cooperation.

Prior to the opening ceremony, attending mayors spent a day exploring Luoyang, visiting museums, observing smart manufacturing, and experiencing historic neighborhoods. These practical experiences provided tangible, relevant, and replicable references for global urban governance.
