M31 and Ambiq Partner on Low-Power IP for TSMC N12e Process
M31 Technology and Ambiq have announced a collaboration on ultra-low-power Foundation IP for TSMC's N12e process. The solution aims to help SoC designers meet demanding power and area targets for edge AI applications.

HSINCHU, Sept. 23, 2026 – M31 Technology, a provider of silicon intellectual property (IP), and Ambiq, a leader in ultra-low power semiconductor solutions, have unveiled a joint ultra-low-power Foundation IP solution built on TSMC's N12e® process. This collaboration brings together an optimized SPSRAM memory compiler and an ultra-low-leakage standard-cell library intended to assist System-on-Chip (SoC) designers in achieving stringent power and area targets for AIoT, wearables, and other always-on edge applications.
As System-on-Chip designs increasingly incorporate always-on capabilities and embedded intelligence, power consumption targets are tightening, while die size constraints and tape-out schedules remain critical. The solution, based on TSMC N12e®, focuses on design-ready Foundation IP that enhances energy efficiency while delivering the high performance required for complex AIoT and edge computing workloads.
The Foundation IP includes a TSMC N12e® ULL (Ultra Low Leakage) SPSRAM memory compiler designed for high density and performance with minimal leakage and optimized area. It incorporates low-power features like redundancy and power gating. Complementing this is an M31 standard-cell library for TSMC N12e®, developed in collaboration with Ambiq, which reportedly achieves approximately 50% leakage power savings. This combined offering is expected to accelerate time-to-market, shorten design cycles, maximize energy efficiency, and improve cost-efficiency through reduced die size.
"Energy efficiency must be a focus from the foundation of a system-on-chip, especially as edge devices take on increasingly sophisticated AI workloads," said Scott Hanson, CTO and Founder of Ambiq. "Our collaboration with M31 brought together complementary low-power design expertise and contributed important building blocks to our next-generation flagship platform in the TSMC N12e® technology node."
