Magnets Generally Do Not Damage Modern CPUs

Most common household magnets do not damage computer CPUs or other modern electronic components. This is because CPUs and most modern digital storage media, such as SSDs and flash memory, do not operate using magnetic fields. The components are primarily made of silicon and transistors, which are not susceptible to magnetic interference.

While powerful magnets can potentially affect older storage devices like traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), which utilize magnetic storage methods, this would require significantly stronger magnets than are typically encountered. Similarly, older Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors can be sensitive to magnetic fields, but modern LCD, LED, and OLED displays are largely unaffected by such interference.

In practice, this means that ordinary magnets, such as those found on refrigerator doors, do not pose a significant threat to computer CPUs or other critical components. Only extremely powerful magnets could cause issues, and even then, likely with older hardware or components related to magnetic storage.
