Mahadev Betting App Promoter Extradited from Oman to India
Indian authorities have successfully extradited Sourabh Chandrakar, a key promoter of the illegal Mahadev betting network, to face charges in Raipur.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has completed the extradition of Sourabh Chandrakar, a primary promoter of the Mahadev Online Book betting platform, from Oman to India. Chandrakar, who was detained following an Interpol Red Corner Notice, is expected to face a special CBI court in Raipur to address charges related to illegal betting operations.
Investigators allege that the Mahadev platform functioned through a decentralized network of franchise panels, targeting Indian users for illegal wagering on sports and card games. Authorities claim the syndicate utilized mule accounts and hawala channels to move illicit proceeds offshore, with significant portions allegedly paid as bribes to public officials to maintain operations.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has valued the proceeds of crime at approximately ₹6,000 Cr. The agency has previously attached or frozen assets worth over ₹4,300 Cr, including luxury real estate in Dubai and New Delhi. The case continues to be a high-profile investigation, with dozens of individuals currently under indictment regarding the platform’s financial structure.
