Maison de Sabré crafts handbag charms from leather scraps

Australian luxury leather goods maker Maison de Sabré has developed a strategy to utilize the leather scraps produced during handbag manufacturing. The company crafts small, collectible charms from these offcuts, which customers can attach to their bags.

These small leather charms, including floral and animal designs, are made from the leftover pieces of leather from the handbag production process. Maison de Sabré states that this approach reduces waste and creates a new revenue stream. The charms are limited-edition offerings, as their availability depends on the type of leather scraps on hand, making them collectible items.

The company, founded by brothers Omar and Zane Sabré, has previously been known for its colorful leather handbags. Most recently, a bag named the Soft Trio was launched, featuring specially designed hooks and clasps intended for showcasing these charms. Maison de Sabré aims to build the next generation of luxury brands where sustainability is a core value.

The Australian-based company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, expanding into international markets and major department stores. The United States is currently its largest market. Maison de Sabré also employs a zero-water leather tanning process that conserves water and minimizes waste.
