Significant new lithium deposits have been identified in the Gadali mine in western Sichuan, China, adding an estimated 1.047 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent. With this addition, the total established reserves of lithium carbonate equivalent at the Gadali mine reach 2.531 million tons, further expanding the deposit's scale.

This expansion solidifies Gadali mine's status as a super-large pegmatite lithium deposit. The relevant exploration reports have passed review and filing with the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The research, led by Professor Wang Denghong's team from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences' Institute of Mineral Resources, involved lithium exploration along lines 119 to 167 in the Gadali mining area of Malkang City, Sichuan Province.

The Gadali lithium deposit is situated within the West Kunlun โ€“ Songpan โ€“ Ganzi giant lithium belt, also known as the "Asian Lithium Belt," a key area for the concentration of hard-rock lithium deposits in China.

The updated assessment includes an additional 33.52 million tons of lithium rock resources and 423,800 tons of lithium oxide mineral, with an average grade of 1.26 percent. Professor Wang stated that this expansion further strengthens the resource base of the large lithium resource base in western Sichuan and is significant for enhancing China's supply capacity of hard-rock lithium resources and reducing foreign dependency.
