MakeMyTrip acquires majority stake in Quick Ride to enter carpooling segment
Nasdaq-listed MakeMyTrip has purchased a majority stake in Bengaluru-based Quick Ride to establish a footprint in the ride-pooling market.

MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in the carpooling startup Quick Ride for an undisclosed amount. The move is designed to integrate ride-pooling into the travel conglomerate's existing ground transportation services, marking a shift toward capturing daily intra-city commuting traffic.
The transaction involves the transfer of Quick Ride’s ride-pooling assets to a newly established entity, Co Ride Mobility Private Limited, which will be majority-owned by MakeMyTrip. The original founders of Quick Ride will remain at the helm of the business. Notably, the startup’s electric vehicle taxi division is excluded from the deal and will remain with its original entity, iDisha Info Labs.
Founded in 2014, Quick Ride connects commuters traveling in the same direction and provides corporate mobility solutions to major IT firms. MakeMyTrip Group CEO Rajesh Magow stated that the acquisition aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand its travel ecosystem. By leveraging its operational experience with brands like redBus, MakeMyTrip intends to scale the ride-pooling service across its existing network.
This acquisition follows a series of strategic moves by MakeMyTrip to broaden its reach in the travel value chain. In recent years, the company has acquired businesses such as Savaari and Happay to diversify its offerings in car rentals and corporate expense management.
