MakeMyTrip reports profit for second fiscal quarter

MakeMyTrip reached a net profit of $1.8 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, supported by improved operating margins and reduced net finance costs. Total revenue reached $235.2 million, a 2.5% increase from $229.3 million reported in the previous year.

The results were significantly impacted by currency volatility, as the Indian rupee depreciated approximately 10% against the dollar. The company noted that on a constant currency basis, revenue growth would have reached 11.2%. This currency pressure, combined with high fuel prices, has tempered growth in the international outbound travel sector.

Despite challenges in long-haul international travel, the company saw an 11.3% increase in gross bookings, totaling $2.72 billion, largely supported by domestic demand. The hotels and packages division remained the primary revenue driver at $107.1 million.

Growth was particularly notable in the bus ticketing segment, which climbed 16.6% to $39.1 million. This increase was attributed to a 24.7% rise in total bus tickets sold during the period.
