Malteser develops Corporate Social Responsibility program
Malteser Werke gemeinnützige GmbH is developing a program for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The organization becomes the first CSR company within the Caritas sector.
Malteser Werke gemeinnützige GmbH has decided to develop a program to address its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), encompassing economic, ecological, and social duties. The decision was recently made by the heads of its facilities.[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]Patrick Hofmacher, a managing director at Malteser Werke, highlighted that while the organization performs well in youth services and migration support, other areas of corporate management require improvement. He specifically mentioned staff development and work-life balance as crucial for attracting employees, alongside a greater focus on sustainable resource management.[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]Malteser is receiving support from the Caritas CSR Competence Centre, which has provided methodological and implementation guidance since 2010. Karl-Hans Kern, director of the competence centre, considers Malteser Werke's move as pioneering within Caritas, establishing it as the first CSR company in the social sector.[NEWLINE][NEWLINE]Malteser aims to release its first sustainability and responsibility report by June 2013. This will follow an assessment of economic, ecological, and social processes across its 38 facilities and the formulation of specific improvement goals. Approximately 700 employees will contribute to defining these objectives through a suggestion system designed to harness their creativity.
