Malteser in Deutschland reports on health and palliative care outreach initiatives

Malteser in Deutschland has executed a series of health-focused campaigns and support programs in North Rhine-Westphalia throughout late 2026.

German relief organization Malteser in Deutschland has carried out several public health and community initiatives across North Rhine-Westphalia over the summer and autumn of 2026. During the regional 'NRW-Tag' event in Münster in late August, the organization led a resuscitation challenge, successfully registering 131,910 chest compressions, significantly exceeding their target of 125,000.

Beyond emergency training, the organization has emphasized its role in palliative care. A benefit concert held in Kevelaer in October, coinciding with World Hospice Day, drew 750 participants, highlighting the group's commitment to supporting those in end-of-life care and their families.

These public efforts complement the organization's ongoing 'Herzenswunsch' (Heart's Desire) program, which fulfills the final wishes of terminally ill individuals. In one notable instance this summer, the organization assisted a patient in attending his son's wedding, a program designed to provide emotional support and dignity during critical medical circumstances.
