Malteser Launches Youth Support Program for End-of-Life and Grief in Magdeburg
Malteser Hilfsdienst is launching a new project in Magdeburg to support young people aged under 30 in dealing with death and grief. The initiative aims to build a modern, youth-oriented hospice and grief community.
Malteser Hilfsdienst has launched a new initiative in Magdeburg aimed at supporting young people under 30 in navigating end-of-life and grief. The national project, titled "Junge Menschen in der Sterbe- und Trauerbegleitung" (Young People in End-of-Life and Grief Support), seeks to address the lack of peer support for young individuals facing serious illness, death, or mourning.
The pilot program intends to establish a contemporary, youth-focused hospice community in Magdeburg. Planned activities include regular events such as yoga, football, and picnics, under the theme "I want to again…" These gatherings aim to foster shared life experiences while acknowledging mortality.
Social media platforms are being utilized to engage the target demographic. Updates on the project and upcoming events can be found on Instagram via the hashtag #magmalendlich and on Facebook by searching for Malteser Hilfsdienst Magdeburg. Further details about the national project are available on the Malteser website.
The "Malteser Stübchen Süd" center in Magdeburg has also been involved in community integration efforts. Recently, the center participated in "Weeks Against Racism," hosting workshops that celebrated linguistic and cultural diversity and expressed solidarity with Ukraine, highlighting the organization's broader commitment to community support.
