Malteser recognized for integration work in Saxony-Anhalt
Saxony-Anhalt state honored three Malteser employees for their contributions to integration and social cohesion. The awards were presented in Magdeburg.
The state of Saxony-Anhalt has recognized the significant contributions of three Malteser employees to integration and diversity. Mala Hamzam, Mohanad Katbi, and Iman Shaaban received accolades at an event in Magdeburg.
Mala Hamzam and Mohanad Katbi are involved in Malteser's "Hand in Hand" project. Hamzam has been instrumental in establishing a mothers' café, which has helped 25 women improve their language skills in a supportive environment. Katbi provides computer training and assists individuals in navigating the digital world.
Iman Shaaban serves as the volunteer coordinator for the Malteser Stübchen Süd center in Magdeburg and manages aid efforts for Ukraine in the region. Shaaban, an artist and cartoonist from Syria, has also led calligraphy and graphic design workshops, supported the elderly, and contributed illustrations to publications.
The state's integration prize is awarded annually to recognize individuals and organizations that actively promote diversity and cohesion within the region. This year's ceremony highlighted the crucial role of individual commitment in strengthening community bonds.
