Malteser reorganizes management structure

Malteser in Deutschland is continuing its strategic reorganization of its management to meet future challenges. The area of personnel, crucial for both volunteer and full-time staff, will now become a separate responsibility within the board.

Ulf Reermann will lead this new personnel department for the entire Malteser network, joining the board of all three legal entities (Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V., Malteser Hilfsdienst gGmbH, and Malteser Deutschland gGmbH) effective May 1, 2019. Reermann, a lawyer previously managing the Hessen/Rheinland-Pfalz/Saarland region, will relocate from Limburg to Cologne.

Additionally, the responsibility for volunteer and social entrepreneurial services within Malteser Hilfsdienst will now report directly to the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Elmar Pankau. He will be supported by Frank Weber, formerly the managing director for the Bayern/Thüringen region, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the expanded management of Malteser Hilfsdienst. Weber, a business economist, is moving from Würzburg to the central office in Cologne.

Cornelius Freiherr von Fürstenberg, the outgoing executive board member for Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. and managing director of Malteser Hilfsdienst gGmbH, will step down on April 30. He is moving to manage a family estate near Soest that requires his full attention. The supervisory board, presidium, and board of Malteser expressed regret over his decision and thanked him for his dedicated service.

Earlier in January, the COO position was created within Malteser Deutschland gGmbH, with Gerhard Becker assuming this role within the Medicine and Care department, led by Verena Hölken. These changes reflect Malteser's ongoing strategic adjustments to its leadership and organizational structure.
