Malteser, a German aid organization, has launched a series of videos featuring hospice volunteers reading from the book "Umarmen und Loslassen" (Embrace and Let Go). The book, authored by Shabnam and Wolfgang Arzt, chronicles their life with their daughter Jael, who had Edward syndrome, a life-shortening condition.

The initiative aims to provide comfort and share experiences during challenging times. "The book by the couple Arzt takes us into a very emotional time. We are also experiencing a highly emotional phase right now. People are uncertain and have fears," stated Wilfried Wanjek, head of the Malteser hospice center in Fulda.

Seven volunteer hospice caregivers selected and read passages from the book. Ute Sander, coordinator for Malteser's outpatient family support and children's hospice services, described the experience as "very moving" and noted that the book offers hope and guidance on navigating crises.

The video readings are available on the Malteser Fulda YouTube channel and their social media platforms. The authors have expressed their gratitude for the volunteers' efforts and wished viewers enjoyment of the readings.
