Man Group Reports Increased Earnings, Assets Under Management Decline

Man Group PLC, a global investment management firm, reported a 28% increase in its core earnings per share (EPS) for the first half of 2022, with the figure rising to 24.0 cents from 18.7 cents in the prior year period.

Despite the earnings growth, the company's assets under management (AUM) decreased to $142.3 billion as of June 30, 2022, down from $148.6 billion at the end of 2021. This decline was partly attributed to negative investment performance of $7.0 billion from long-only strategies, influenced by market beta during the period.

Chief Executive Luke Ellis stated that the company delivered for clients and shareholders amidst a volatile market environment. Net inflows of $3.2 billion and positive investment performance of $2.1 billion from alternative strategies were highlighted as key contributors.

The company's board recommended an interim dividend of 5.6 cents per share, consistent with the previous year. Man Group also reported that it had completed $39 million of its $125 million share buyback program announced in June 2022.
