Chinese manufacturer Ningbo Mengting Outdoor Implement Co. has provided details on the production costs of headlamps based on order volume. According to the company, the unit price of rechargeable LED headlamps is composed of four primary elements: the LED chip, the battery pack and charging PCB, the housing and head strap, and the assembly and quality control processes.
The most substantial cost reduction occurs when order volume increases from 500 to 2000 units. The transition from 2000 to 5000 units yields considerably smaller savings. The company advises clients to evaluate quotes based on their structure rather than solely on the total price.
The manufacturing process is divided into four blocks: LED and optical module, battery and charging PCB, housing and strap, and assembly and packaging. The costs for the LED module remain relatively stable across different volumes, while the price of the housing and strap varies most significantly with order quantity due to the amortization of mold costs.
Costs for the battery and charging circuit are sensitive to raw material price fluctuations, particularly concerning lithium pricing. Assembly and quality control costs are dependent on factory production efficiency. For larger batches, such as 2000 or 5000 units, the unit cost of assembly decreases due to more efficient workflows.
