Manulife reports record core earnings for third quarter 2026
Manulife recorded $2.1 billion in core earnings for the third quarter of 2026, bolstered by growth in its Asian insurance operations.

Manulife Financial Corporation posted core earnings of $2.1 billion for the third quarter of 2026, a 4% increase on a constant exchange rate basis compared to the same period in 2025. The company's core earnings per share rose 6% to $1.24.
Despite the growth in core operations, net income attributable to shareholders fell to $1.4 billion from $1.8 billion in the third quarter of 2025. The company's Global Wealth and Asset Management division saw net outflows of $3.6 billion, an improvement from the $6.2 billion in net outflows recorded during the same period in 2025.
CEO Phil Witherington stated the results reflect the execution of a strategy launched last year, noting growth in Asian markets and North American insurance segments. The company returned $1.3 billion to shareholders during the quarter while maintaining a LICAT ratio of 136%.
Manulife remains focused on expense efficiency and capital deployment as it navigates current market volatility. The quarterly review of actuarial assumptions concluded with a net favorable impact on reserves, according to CFO Colin Simpson.
