Mark Cuban: AI to Train Employees Like Pilots

Entrepreneur Mark Cuban has outlined a future where artificial intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role in employee training. He forecasts that companies will develop AI-driven job simulators, allowing employees to repeatedly practice difficult tasks and workplace scenarios.

Cuban draws a parallel to the virtual training pilots and race-car drivers undergo before real-world operations. "Employees won’t have as many touch points in the company to gain knowledge and experience from," Cuban stated on X. "That’s where judgement has historically come from."

His proposed solution involves converting the expertise of veteran employees and stakeholders into customized simulations that mirror likely work situations. Cuban believes this approach will fundamentally change the meaning of onboarding.

Early versions of this concept are already emerging from startups. Yoodli, a Seattle-based company, has secured substantial funding for its platform, which allows businesses to upload their sales methods and brand guidelines. The AI then generates conversations for employees to practice, scoring their performance. Amazon Web Services also offers similar simulations, enabling users to interact with virtual executives and technical specialists.
