Marks & Spencer (M&S) has opened its largest standalone Food store in Godalming, Surrey. The new 22,000 sq ft Foodhall is part of M&S's broader investment program aimed at expanding and modernizing its food offerings to better serve families' weekly shopping needs.

The store is located at The Wharf Retail Park, on the site of a former Homebase store. It features the full M&S Food range, an expanded 175-product Remarksable Value line, a larger bakery, upgraded fresh produce sections, and service counters for items such as cheese, chicken, sushi, and wine.

The Godalming store showcases M&S's latest store format, designed for modern family shopping habits. This includes more space for larger weekly shops, improved customer flow, and a wider mix of everyday essentials, reflecting the retailer's strategy to create larger stores where customers can complete more of their shopping in one trip.

Store manager Amelia Holiwell stated that customers responded enthusiastically on opening morning. "We are really proud to open a Foodhall that brings the very best of M&S Food to Godalming," Holiwell said. M&S Food Managing Director Alex Freudmann noted that the company is investing in larger stores and stronger value where family customers are asking for it, as part of its expansion strategy for the food business.
