Nordic digital savings and investment platform Nordnet has appointed Markus Pertlwieser as Country Manager for its upcoming German operations. Pertlwieser will begin his role on May 1, 2025, reporting to CEO Lars-Åke Norling.

Pertlwieser brings extensive experience from the German and European financial markets. He previously worked at McKinsey and held various leadership positions at Deutsche Bank, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Digital Officer for its retail and commercial banking unit. Most recently, he served as CEO of Penta, a digital bank for SMEs, before its acquisition by Qonto in 2022.

Nordnet announced in January 2025 its intention to establish operations in Germany in the latter half of 2026. The German savings and investment market is Europe's largest, yet only about 17 percent of the adult population holds savings in stocks or funds, presenting significant growth potential.

"With Markus's combination of high-level strategic competence and operational decisiveness, we are optimizing our chances for success in the German market," said Lars-Åke Norling, CEO of Nordnet. Pertlwieser, 50, is based in Frankfurt and will join Nordnet's executive management team.
