Mars Integrates Indian Mint into European Gum Production

Mars Incorporated has begun integrating menthol sourced through its Shubh Mint programme in India into its European chewing gum supply chain. The company is now supplying its factories in the UK and Poland with the ingredient.

The Shubh Mint programme, which focuses on sustainable and ethical sourcing of mint oil from India, has expanded to engage more than 24,000 local farmers. The initiative aims to improve farmers' incomes and production methods.

Mars states that the programme has helped participating farmers more than double their mint incomes while also aiming to reduce the environmental impact of production. The company has not provided specifics on the methods used to achieve these reductions or the overall supply chain emissions.

This integration aims to strengthen Mars's European production capabilities and potentially streamline its supply chain for key ingredients. The company continues to explore similar sustainable sourcing initiatives globally.
