Mars Launches Pet Adoption Resource Hub Amidst New Research Findings

Mars, Incorporated has introduced a new online portal aimed at guiding individuals through the pet adoption process. New research indicates that many potential pet owners hesitate to adopt due to uncertainties regarding an animal's health, behavior, and compatibility with their household.

The study, which surveyed over 26,000 individuals across 14 countries, found that nearly one-third (28%) of current pet owners expressed a desire for future adoption if adequate support were available. Common concerns revolve around the animal's unknown background, including previous medical history (33%), behavioral patterns (27%), and suitability for a family environment (25%).

The newly launched "Adoption Hub" provides expert advice and practical resources for both pre- and post-adoption phases. Mars is also extending its annual Global Adoption Weekend initiative to over 30 countries, aiming to support a greater number of local animal shelters. The initiative seeks to mitigate adoption-related uncertainties and build confidence among prospective adopters.

The research also underscored the importance of nutritional guidance. Over 70% of adopters change their pet's diet after transitioning from a shelter to a home environment. Expert support is crucial for ensuring appropriate nutrition and a smooth dietary adjustment. Mars intends for these efforts to facilitate a better life for both adopted pets and their owners.
