Martha Stewart launches AI app for home maintenance

Martha Stewart, the lifestyle and homekeeping entrepreneur, has introduced Hint, a new artificial intelligence application aimed at assisting homeowners with managing their properties. Developed with co-founders Yih-Han Ma and Kyle Rush, Hint seeks to streamline the complexities of homeownership.

The Hint app functions as a central repository for home-related data, consolidating information typically scattered across manuals, emails, and personal records. Stewart explained that the concept evolved from an earlier idea for a "home organizer" that is now feasible due to advancements in AI.

Hint utilizes AI and proprietary technology to aggregate and analyze data specific to a homeowner's dwelling. The company assures that user data is not sold or shared. By entering appliance serial numbers, users can access care instructions and maintenance schedules, effectively rendering physical manuals obsolete. The app also maintains a record of the home's maintenance and improvement history.

Having secured $10 million in seed funding, Hint has launched on iOS with plans for a Google Play release. The app is primarily targeting millennial first-time homebuyers but also offers utility for aging homeowners and those assisting elderly parents. Investors suggest that Hint could potentially increase a home's resale value by providing verifiable documentation of upkeep and renovations.
