Developer Arc System Works has released an update for its 4v4 team fighting game, Marvel's Midnight Suns, to address reported performance issues on the PC platform. The game launched on PC on August 6, and while it received praise on the PlayStation 5, the PC version suffered from significant technical problems.
The issues led to a decline in the game's user ratings on Steam, where it held a "Mixed" rating of 43% post-launch. Reported problems included noticeable performance drops and lag in online matches, impacting the player experience.
The update primarily aims to reduce the game's CPU usage, which was previously excessive. The development team stated that the performance degradation was mainly due to the game frequently checking for available audio input devices, which could cause sudden frame rate drops.
Additionally, the update includes graphics optimizations, featuring an improved auto-detection for graphics settings that better matches the player's hardware configuration. Players are also prompted to perform a Shader Warm-up again after the update. Other fixes address issues where custom items or color schemes would revert to default settings upon restarting the game, and occasional input button failures in open lobby mini-games.
