Mastercard and WEX to launch fleet payments network in APAC

Mastercard and WEX, a US-based provider of business payment solutions, announced on October 12 their intention to launch a fleet payments network in the Asia Pacific region. The new system aims to consolidate all vehicle-related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, tolls, and parking, onto a single platform, replacing fragmented payment tools.

According to the companies, this will be the region's first unified payment network for fleets. Estimates suggest that fleet card transaction volumes in Asia Pacific reached approximately US$310 billion in 2025, accounting for 31% of the global total. The planned system is designed to provide fleet operators with spending controls and itemized data.

The platform will allow businesses to manage fuel-powered, hybrid, and electric vehicles under one account, issuing a single consolidated invoice. This is expected to streamline fleet management and financial reporting in a region experiencing growing fleet diversification and electrification.

Mastercard has been expanding its fleet solutions in the Asia Pacific region. This collaboration with WEX represents a further step in its strategy to offer comprehensive payment and mobility management solutions to businesses operating fleets across the area.
