Dortmund – Materna Group, an IT service provider, has announced the sale of its subsidiary Materna IPS (Intelligent Passenger Solutions) to SITA, a global leader in air transport technology. This strategic divestment is part of Materna Group's plan to sharpen its focus on its core enterprise strategy, dubbed GRIP2.

The company intends to concentrate on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, particularly for the public and business sectors, aiming to lead technological change. The sale of Materna IPS will provide resources to implement its strategy, which also emphasizes data economy and business resilience.

Materna IPS, which specializes in passenger solutions for the aviation industry, has doubled its revenue during its four years of independence. The acquisition by SITA is expected to support both Materna Group's strategic objectives and Materna IPS's growth ambitions.

Michael Hagedorn, CEO of Materna Group, stated that the company's primary focus is the consistent implementation of its GRIP2 strategy, targeting revenue of one billion euros by 2027. "The divestment of Materna IPS enables us to strengthen our core competencies while simultaneously creating new growth opportunities for Materna IPS," Hagedorn said.

The transaction is anticipated to be completed in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals. Materna Group is an IT service provider focused on digital transformation projects. In 2024, the group reported revenue of 710 million euros with approximately 4,500 employees worldwide.
